two magpies bakery, southwold, suffolk
i’ve got one great big, bursting full of seaside goodness post about my recent jaunt to southwold coming up real soon for you – until then, here’s a snippet of my adventure.
naturally, it’s cake based!
the two magpies bakery stands out on the southwold high street – it’s all chalk and brown paper tags, with not a blue rinse in sight.
the window display is enough to get you drooling, but step inside and take a look at the variety of loaves they also have available (don’t be afraid, non-sweet toothers!)
the first trip ended in me walking out with a slice of raspberry bakewell sponge, which was delicious and moist, and lovely with my afternoon cuppa. my pa, ever indulgent, went for the chocolate cupcake sprinkled with gold that you can see towards the top of the above photo; dense with amaretto, it was a great sweet treat – but definitely a treat!
the second visit and i went in at the deep end with a slice (or slab?) or raspberry sponge with limoncello sauce/topping.
a pecan brownie also snuck its way into the box – although i didn’t partake, i only heard good oohs and aahs from those who did.
if you ever find yourself wandering around the suffolk coast and in need of a piece of cake, try two magpies and you wont be dissapointed.
gorgeous packaging, friendly service and a great selection of treats.
